The nearest station does not always remove the walk. The points below work as a starting orientation; confirm the right access on the official map and factor in mobility, weather and time of day.

How to read the connections
Line 1/4 trains link Uruguai, in Tijuca, to Jardim Oceânico in Barra. Line 2 runs between Pavuna and Botafogo. On the shared stretch between Central do Brasil/Centro and Botafogo, operation and transfer points can change at weekends, on public holidays and during special events.
Check the final destination shown on the train and listen to the platform announcements. To combine metro with BRT, Jardim Oceânico is the main interchange towards the rest of Barra; Vicente de Carvalho also offers a BRT connection.

Frequently asked questions
- How many lines does the Rio de Janeiro metro have?
- Three: Line 1, between Uruguai and General Osório; Line 2, between Pavuna and Botafogo; and Line 4, running from General Osório to Jardim Oceânico in Barra da Tijuca. Lines 1 and 4 operate as an integrated service for much of the day.
- Does the Rio metro run 24 hours?
- No. It runs to set hours, starting in the morning and closing at night, with reduced service on Sundays and public holidays. Specific events can bring extended operation. Always confirm on the official channel on the day you travel.
- How do you get from Ipanema to Barra da Tijuca by metro?
- On Line 4, boarding at General Osório or Nossa Senhora da Paz and riding to Jardim Oceânico via São Conrado. At Jardim Oceânico there is a BRT interchange for the rest of Barra and Recreio.
- Does the metro reach Christ the Redeemer or Sugarloaf?
- Not directly. For Corcovado, the reference is Largo do Machado station followed by an accredited van, or the Corcovado cog train at Cosme Velho. For Sugarloaf, get off at Botafogo and continue by bus or app to Praia Vermelha in Urca.
